VSR 100 yard match 4th April 2026

posted 05 April 2026, 4:36 pm

Once again we were blessed with kind weather for the first Vintage Service Rifle match of the year. Mercifully it was a windy day, so the black powder smoke dispersed before actually choking any of us to death.

The match consisted of three stages, shot with a total of 25 rounds including 3 sighters. Most shooting was standing, though with some kneeling and prone thrown in. As usual, stages were shot against the clock and usually involved some kind of movement to get the blood pumping and the bullet missing (!).

Our VSR neophyte, Paul Hope, acquitted himself very creditably with his Mk 4 Martini Henry, and we hope to see him again at VSR matches. Paul Bourton was firing his own Martini for the very first time, and achieved some good scores with it – a great effort. Performances and scores were generally up on previous years, despite a challenging course of fire, so the practice must be making us all better.

Scores can be seen online here>>>>

Booking for the 200yd match on Sunday May 17th is now open here>>>>
