Over recent months enquiries have been made of firearms licensing departments about a
product made and available in the United States called ‘Tannerite’. Enquiries made as a result
of the requests have identified that the product has a number of regulatory requirements if it were
imported and used in Great Britain.

At a recent meeting of the Firearms Practitioners Group, representatives from ACPO FELWG
indicated that there is serious doubt whether the product can be used as intended in this
country and the effect of failure to comply with the regulatory requirements will place the person
acquiring it at risk of being prosecuted on several counts under Health & Safety legislation.
