HBSA Wappenshaw

This year’s Christmas event commemorates the passing of our friend Maurice Kanarek. Our commemorative Wappenshaw Competition will be held on Saturday morning 16th December, at 100 yards on Short Siberia range, Bisley, starting at 0830 hrs.

Our Maurice Kanarek Commemorative Lunch will be at 12:30 for 13:00 in the Enfield room in the Bisley Pavilion, with the bar opening at 12:30 hrs.

There will be a Heritage Pistol shoot at Bisley that morning, and we hope that many pistol shooters will book for lunch and join us to remember our friend Maurice.

Closing date for entries: Sunday 10th December

Wappenshaw Shoot in memory of Maurice Kanarek

As in 2019, this year’s shoot will be ‘a smallest group’ competition open to most classes of rifles datelines Vintage, Classic, Veteran and post-Veteran transitional (but NO 22RF, HMEs or Muzzle Loaders please).

It is hoped that entrants will be able to shoot at least twice during the morning, so long as you arrive in good time.

Guests will be most welcome at both the shoot and lunch, but ONLY FAC holding guests at the shoot please. To shoot, you and any guests must not be ‘prohibited persons’ under the Firearms Act and must be in possession of a current FAC and appropriate valid Certificate of Competency.

Course of Fire:

There will be a single course of fire for all classes.
Please ensure that your chosen rifle(s) is zeroed to the 200 yard NRA Round Bull target.

You will be allowed two marked sighting shots followed by ten rounds deliberate fire in 5 minutes – bipods and front rests are permitted but no form of rear rest or support. The target will be lowered and the 10 shot group size measured by the Butts.  The group size (in centimetres) will be radioed to the RCO and recorded.

Second or further attempts with the same rifle WILL be permitted, with the smallest group size counting.

Rifle Classes:

1. Military iron sighted rifles (as issued)
2. Military and transitional target rifles with ‘Target sights’ (not telescopic)
3. Large bore rifles (inc Black Powder)
4. Any historical rifle with contemporary optical sights (no HMEs)

Entries:

All entries are to be made online (above). Entry at the Range on the day is strongly discouraged and may lead to disappointment due to lack of range space.

Lunch Bookings MUST be made online before Sunday 10th December 2023 in order to firm up numbers for catering.

HBSA members and their guests who do not wish to shoot, will be most welcome at the lunch.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at this occasion to round off our shooting year.
