HBSA Miniature Rifle Matches 16th August 2026

posted 28 August 2026, 1:37 pm

The annual HBSA Miniature Rifle Matches are a welcome opportunity for competitors to bring out a wide variety of historic miniature rifles from their collections. With most competitors booking a dedicated firing point for unlimited (well 6 or 7) details in half a day, it is a popular and inexpensive opportunity to give rare rifles a day out.

This year was hot and dry, in contrast to memories of previous year’s downpours. 16 competitors shot a total of 68 matches, a significant increase over previous years. The morning session was busy, but we had capacity after lunch.

The 14 matches fall into three groups:

  •  Standing Rapids for repeating rifles, shot on the rook, rabbit and rat targets
  • Standing Unsupported, 2 cards in 30 minutes, best 10 from 12 on each
  • Standing Supported, same course of fire, but competitors may steady their hand on a support

The match results may be viewed here >>>>

Popular cartridges were 22RF, 297/250, 310 Cadet, 380Long. The single most common rifles were the 310 Cadets (BSA & Greener), but there was an impressively wide range of other rifles in use:
