This took place on Sunday 22nd September at Bisley.
The course of fire was 2 convertible sighters and 10 to score.
The morning session was at 300 yards, the afternoon at 600 yards. Previously this has been shot at 500 yards in the afternoon. I have changed it to 600yds as Bisley rarely offer the option of 500 yds.
The morning was overcast, heavy rain overnight meant muddy conditions underfoot, the forecast was fairly dire, however, apart from one squall everyone got through their cards. The afternoon was damp and threatening but the rain held off.
There was a mild slightly variable wind.
We were meant to have 9 competitors; one chose not to attend as he would have a long journey and the weather forecast was not good. Two more withdrew as the day progressed. In total 11 cards were shot.
I had already reduced to 2 targets before the event, this still proved excessive. The problem being you don’t know that before the day and we need both tin hat and round bull targets.
Man of the Match must go to Ashley Rollett who persisted in shooting through the worst squall whilst Bruce carefully held an umbrella over his valuable rifle!
I think all in all it was a pleasant days shooting (if a financial disaster!).
