HBSA Long Range Rook & Rabbit Match 14June25
HBSA Long Range Midland Rook & Rabbit Rifle Competition
Stourport on Severn, Saturday 14th June 2025
Dear Competitors
Thank you all for competing in this years Long Range Rook and Rabbit competition.
As always, I would very much like to thank the Committee and Members of Stourport on Severn Rifle Club for allowing us the use of their range.
The weather was hot and humid with a few sharp showers, but fortunately the rain did not last and all the competitors and targets remained dry. The biggest issue was caused by the Match organiser who forgot to pack the targets for the match, a quick turnabout rectified the situation but caused a 30-minute delay at the start.
He has received a written warning and promises not to do it again.
This year we attracted 11 entrants.
Shooting 33 matches, a total 99 cards.
At least 6 others could not attend due to holidays, so Rook & Rabbit continues to be popular and attracts new members.

! Note.
To maintain a level playing field and to encourage the use of Military Training Rifles, I have split Match 4 in two. Match 4a for the original WOPM rifle, Match 4b for heavier Military rifles such as the SMLE and No.8.
Following the range restructuring, we had to move between the 25, 50 and 100m ranges.
This was a difficult task to squad as we were restricted to 4 lanes at 100 plus we had to share the 3 ranges with SoS club shooters.
It all worked but was hard work, especially for the more senior members.
A survey will take place later this year but I suspect that we will not shoot at 100m again in this format.
The usual supply of cake, tea and coffee was provided by Paul Smith.
Many thanks to all those who attended and helped out during the day.
Special thanks to Rob Forbes from SoS who acted as Safety Officer and ensured everyone conducted themselves in a safe manner.
Shooting at Stourport On Severn continues to be a challenge with the modified range layout and the club operating rules.
I believe we did an extremely good job supporting our cause, hopefully we can continue to use the Range at Stourport.
I must congratulate all those who took part, everyone kept calm and carried on in good spirit, even if the atmosphere was a little tense at times.
I hope everyone had a good day and that we see you all again.
Best Regards
Paul Smith
