Four Types competition, 100yds Short Siberia, 12th September26

It’s been a few years since the Four Types competition ran, so it was good to see a dozen or so competitors limbering up for action on a fine early autumn morning.

Shooting progressed smoothly, with 34 cards in total submitted by close of play. Some outstanding scores were achieved, including two maximum 50s; well done Fred Cooke and Richard Kaplan.

The results may be viewed here >>>>

There was also a good range of rifles on the point: a black powder Martini Henry in the Boer War class (in which Gert Van Wyk scored a remarkable 34, single loading), a fun-to-reload 7.35 Carcano, an unusual sporterised Mauser KAR 98 AZ, Arisaka Type 38s and more.

Ourr grteful thanks to Dave Carroll for coming to help out behind the point – even though he wasn’t shooting himself – and also to Mike Standage for taking scores and organising the general chaos.

We hope to run the competition again at the same time next year.
