We were to be shrouded in mist, according to the weather forecast, so the early arrivals on Short Siberia were surprised to find the targets fully visible. No mist, then, but regrettably a bit of ‘missed’ here and there, despite everyone’s best efforts.
The usual eclectic mixture of firearms showed up, to the enjoyment not only of the HBSA shooters but also several of our neighbours who were shooting more conventional fare. A HBSA shoot is usually a firearms history lesson, in genial company, and one of our best advertisements for membership. This year we saw a Rolling Block in .43 Egyptian, the usual Martini Henrys and Lee Enfields, a goodly selection of Swedish workhorses and some amusing French fripperies (including a Gras gendarmerie carbine in 11x59R, with fixed bayonet). All in all, a fine turnout.
The scores ranged from the sublime to the, er, less so – but everyone seemed to enjoy it. The results may be viewed here >>>>
Many thanks to Dave Carroll for efficiently assisting behind the point and making sure every detail did in fact have two shooters. See you all in 2027… and suggest bringing your weirdest/rarest firearm to wow the onlookers!
