The legislative posts that I have published have covered all of the issues up to now.
My message advising the increases in fees made reference to the requests made to the Home Office by BSSC and its member Associations including HBSA, that we had asked for service level improvements. The Home Office has just confirmed that the firearms fees income must be retained by police forces to support improvements in police firearms licensing.
The 10 year certificate was promised by a Conservative minister to follow when the medical marker had been placed on all GPs records and made statutory so that continuous monitoring is in place. The medical marker has been rolled out across England but not yet fully in Wales and is not statutory. When this happens we will press again for 10 year certificates which remain a pending topic. The Home Office will also be progressing the moderator deregulation. We await the publication of the results of last year’s government consultation on that and the following steps.
As usual I will publish further news when it is available.
